MAYAN CYLINDER VESSEL
LATE CLASSIC, CA. A.D. 550-950
In codex style, painted with two jaguar heads, each resting on a plate in the watery Underworld, the jaguar heads, representing sacrifice, are covered with glyphic fragments and water-lily foliage, the rim incircled with the PSS. Further glyphs translate as "sacred writing", "drinking vessel, for the holding of""chocolate", followed with two glyphs with the name of the owner or the painter.
The style of the glyphic writing is almost identical to the style of the artist identified as "Linear Painter".
