VINCENZO MARIA CORONELLI (1650-1718)
[China] Parte Occidentale ... orientale della China ... dedicata al molto Rev Padre Antonio Baddigiani. Venice: 1696. Engraved map of China on two sheets, each 640 x 480mm, in a joint mount. Titles and scale bar set in decorative cartouches incorporating globes, dials and other surveying instruments. Old crease marks along folds, window mount.
An interesting large map of China, extending from the Korean Peninsula and Formosa to the western provinces. A strong dark impression, in its original uncoloured state. Based on Jesuit surveys, the map provides a good overall view of China in the late 17th century. It was published in Coronelli's atlas Atlante Veneto.
