WAGNER, Richard (1813-1883). Autograph letter signed ('Richard Wagner') to A. Specht, Paris, 18 February 1841, thanking him for his fine translation of his latest 'Novelle', and asking him to return the original manuscript, one page, 4to, integral address leaf, framed and glazed.
The 'Novellen' or articles Wagner wrote for the influential Revue et Gazette Musicale de Paris in 1841-42, together with musical hack-work also commissioned by the owner of the Revue, Maurice Schlesinger, were virtually the composer's only source of income during his stay in Paris.
