This image, engraved by Toms, was taken from an inset of Henry Popple's well-known A Map of the British Empire in America with the French and Spanish Settlements Adjacent thereto, from 1733 (see Schwartz and Ehrenberg, The Mapping of America, p. 152). It was common at this time for artists to re-engrave insets and cartouches of famous views and maps.
