8o. Original cloth; pictorial dust jacket. Provenance: David Diamond (b.1915), American composer (presentation inscription, embossed blind stamp).
FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY WILLIAMS TO THE COMPOSER DAVID DIAMOND: "For David affectionately Tenn."
The composer David Diamond and Williams originally met through Carson McCullers, whom Diamond first encountered at Yaddo in the early 1940s. The use of "Tenn" is evidence of the affection that had developed between the two men by the time of the inscription.
