WINGED LION SUPPORTS FROM "THE TEN COMMANDMENTS" AND "CLEOPATRA"
Paramount, 1956 and 1934
A pair of decorative supports designed with lion heads and winged bodies evident in the scene when Pharaoh Rameses, as portrayed by Yul Brynner, is on the balcony while Moses, as portrayed by Charlton Heston, demands freedom for his people. Made of wood and composite, these pieces have highly stylized carvings on their surface and squared flat bases that allow for free-standing. These same supports were also used as set dressing for Cecil B. de Mille's 1934 production of "Cleopatra" which starred Claudette Colbert.
