A YELLOW METAL PENDANT AND COLLAR
designed c.1962-64, executed by Niilo Wasterback, the handbeaten, hammered and chiselled pendant depicting a satyr, with fine chain-link beard and earrings, suspended from a beaten metal collar, stamped 8 D NW
width of pendant 1in.(4.5cm.), overall height including collar 7in.(17.5cm)
The pendant was specially made c.1962-64 for the consignor's wife, both of whom were close friends of Tapio Wirkkala. The design is based on similar pendant, with stones to the eyes and the mouth, that Wirkkala designed for his wife, the ceramacist Ruth Bryk.
