YEATS, W. B. (1865-1939). Selected Poems. New York: Macmillan, 1921. 8°. Original green cloth (a little rubbed at extremities, corners slightly bumped). Provenance: Reverend W.J. Nichol Service (minister at West Kirk, Greenock, presentation inscription on front free endpaper) -- gift inscription from Service to B[etty] B[axter] ('To B.B. fron W.J.N[ichol] S[ervice]) -- by descent to the present owner.
PRESENTATION COPY dated November 1921 inscribed by Yeats 'with my friendly memories'. This copy has REVISIONS IN THE AUTHOR'S HAND to two poems, 'Adam's Curse' and 'Under the Moon', amending the text from that of this edition to that which was used in later editions. One line of Yeat's emendations to 'Adam's Curse', however, does not seem to have been included in later revisions. (Allt and Alspach The Variorum Edition of the Poems of W.B. Yeats, New York, 1957.)
