YEMENIZ, Nicolas (1783-1874) -- Catalogue de mes livres. Lyons: Privately Printed by Louis Perrin, 1865[-66].
3 volumes, 4o (263 x 187 mm). Contemporary dark green half morocco, t.e.g., others uncut, by Guetant (some very minor rubbing). Provenance: Nöe de Salvert (bookplate); J.R. Abbey (bookplate).
Privately printed catalogue, limited, according to Bogeng, to a hundred copies, of one of the great collections of early French literature. Yemeniz, a Greek born in Constantinople, became a successful silk manufacturer in Lyons; his wealth allowed him to collect, from 1804 onwards, manuscripts, bindings (thirteen Groliers), and early printed books of the highest quality. The 3,763 items are carefully described by the collector himself. (3)
