YOUNG, Brigham (1801-1877). Governor's Message to the First General Assembly of the State of Deseret. Salt Lake City, 14 April 1862.
Bifolium (188 x 132 mm). 3 pages. Sewn into modern boards.
FIRST EDITION. The ghost legislature which met after the regular session of the territorial legislature. Not in Gould, Woodward or Berrian. Young urges the admission to the Union of the State of Deseret, and disclaims any "improper, ambitious, or disloyal motives" in demanding statehood for a people "who are wearied in being so long disfranchised, while winning to civilization and freedom a region so forbidding." Flake 2792 (locating 5 copies).
