Lot Essay

Doumet, from Toulon, specialized in marine painting. He fled Toulon for Corsica during the early years of the Revolution and stayed there for three years. Afterwards he moved to Lisbon, only returning to Toulon in 1806. Four views of Lisbon were sold at Christie's London, 26 November 1974, lot 358.
