Michael Simonow writes of the present work,'Ruszkowski noticed the dress on a rack outside a shop in Camden Town and bought it for ten shillings. Although its small size made it suitable only for thin girls, it was nevertheless used in other paintings: 'Rosemarie', 1977 (no. 524), and 'Standing Girl in Spotted Dress', 1977 (no. 546).
