A BLACK AND GOLD LACQUER CABINET-ON-STAND
With engraved copper hinges and lockplates, the rectangular top decorated with a panel of a pagoda, resting on flowering gardens, and fitted with two panelled cupboard doors decorated with panels of flowering branches, rockwork and herons, enclosing an interior fitted with a deep drawer, surrounded by nine variously-sized drawers, the back and sides decorated with further panels of scrolling foliage, the sides with brass bale handles, on a later ebonised red, gilt and foliate-carved base, made by Whytock and Reid of Edinburgh, with shaped apron on moulded square legs and block toes
the cabinet 29in. (73.5cm) wide, 17½in. (44.5cm) deep
