Loosely-inserted are 2 autograph letters (signed 'John Betjeman') to the Rev. Canon O. K. de Berry ('Dear holy old canon'), one, dated 21 March 1973, refusing an invitation to 'preach': 'I have been suffering from a thing called nervous exhaustion ... I have been told by the doctor to do nothing for at least a year. So there we are.'
