[LINCOLN, ABRAHAM]. BRADY STUDIO -- MAQUETTE. In Memory of Abraham Lincoln. The original maquette for Brady's memorial assemblage of Lincoln portraits, ca. April 1865, comprising 8 cartes-de-visite and 1 albumen print detail enlargement, taken 1861-1864, from negatives by Brady (2), Anthony Berger (3), Gardner (2), and Thomas LeMere (1), mounted together in a pattern on black card, 15 x 12 in. The central photo of Lincoln surrounded by a letterpress memorial, the surrounding cartes on decorative scalloped paper mounts, edges of mount slightly worn.
A UNIQUE BRADY ASSEMBLAGE OF LINCOLN PORTRAITS, employing some of the studio's best-known images of the 16th President. This original maquette was photographed and printed in carte-de-visite; copies were sold to the public in the period of national mourning following Lincoln's death on 15 April 1865.
