FIRST EDITION, FIRST STATE, INSCRIBED BY CLEMENS in brown ink over the title and sub-title (on title-page): "This book is dedicated to a noble human success & proved she is another General for God [probably a sarcastic reference to Mary Baker Eddy] -- Augusta E. Stetson. Sincerely Yours. Mark Twain. 1907." Johnson/Clemens, pp. 87-89; BAL 3497. Christian Science is Twain's hilarious lambasting of Mary Baker Eddy.
