A GEORGE II SILVER TANKARD
Maker's mark of James Kirkup, Newcastle, 1757
Baluster, on short base with rocaille band, the lower body repouss and chased with flowers, scrolls and rocaille beneath an applied girdle, the upper section similarly decorated and with a coat-of-arms and a later gift inscription dated 1860 within shaped cartouches, the tubular scroll handle with heart terminal and chased rocaille joins, the hinged domed cover with double loop and scroll thumbpiece, in a rectangular oak box, fully marked under base, maker's mark on handle and lion passant on lid
