Maker's mark of Thomas Pitts, London, 1767
Inverted pear-shaped and on spreading circular foot, with two beaded and leaf-capped double scroll handles, the foot, body and cover each part spirally fluted and chased with beading and foliate scrolls, the detachable domed cover with flame finial, with gadrooned borders, the body chased with two rococo cartouches each engraved with a coat-of-arms, the cover twice with a crest, marked on foot and cover, engraved with scratchweight '78.16'
