A German porcelain copper-gilt mounted snuff-box
Circa 1760, perhaps Fürstenberg, the mounts contemporary
Of trefoil circular bombé form moulded with gadroons, the shallow domed cover moulded with radiating gadroons, painted with bouquets and flower-sprays, the sides enriched with gilding, the interior of the cover with a musician playing the lute and a seated lady reading a book by an urn on a pedestal in a wooded landscape, within a puce scrolling foliage and diaper ornament cartouche (gilding extensively worn, some wear to base and cover, minute wear to interior of cover)
3 in. (7.7 cm.) wide
