Charles-Guillaume Etienne (1778-1845) wrote comedies and melodramas and was director of the paper Constitutionnel during the Restoration and subsequent July Monarchy. Daumier also caricatured the editor of this rival journal in a bust-length lithograph (L.D. 164) in 1832 and a full-length lithograph (L.D. 57) in 1833.
