A PIECED AND APPLIQUED COTTON QUILTED COVERLET
MID-ATLANTIC, 2ND QUARTER 19TH CENTURY

Worked in four open pineapple appliqued squares in green, red and orange printed calicos on a white cotton ground separated by white cotton sashing, centering two printed hearts flanking a bride and groom's names, and enclosed by a meandering flower leaf and berry border with green calico binding; the central squares with diamond quilting, the sashing worked in double princess feather quilting--91½in. high, 81½in. wide
