A PAIR OF SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOLS with two-stage brass barrels slightly belled at the muzzles, engraved octagonal breeches (one slightly bulged), flat brass locks each signed within a scroll and engraved with flowerheads, walnut full stocks (cracked, minor pieces missing) carved with a shell behind the barrel tangs, full cast and chased silver mounts including pierced engraved ribbon side-plates, silver escutcheons engraved with owner's initials, engraved trigger-guards with scallop-shell and flowerhead finial, grotesque mask butt-caps, silver band at each fore-end, and one original brass-tipped whalebone ramrod (damaged, the other ramrod replaced, iron parts pitted, water damaged throughout), by Grice, London, Tower private proof marks, Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1780
