A GERMAN WALNUT, IVORY, MOTHER-OF-PEARL AND MARQUETRY LACE BOX
Early 18th Century
Inlaid and crossbanded overall, the rectangular hinged top with moulded edge depicting Esther and Ahasverus on a central cartouche in a frame of interlaced bands and scrolling foliage, enclosing a plain interior, the sides decorated similarly with a coat of arms to the front and cartouches depicting town scenes to sides and back, on a moulded plinth and later bun feet, previously with lock, hinges replaced, mouldings probably replaced
5½ in. (14 cm.) high; 12½ in. (32 cm.) wide; 10½ in. (27 cm.) deep
