BINDINGS -- The Holy Bible Containing the Old Testament and the New, Oxford: Thomas Baskett, 1755. 8° (210 x 130mm.). Title printed in red and black, rubricated throughout, printed in double column. Contemporary dark blue morocco with elaborate foliate and star decoration and repeated patterns of semi-circles and a central star-burst, spine gilt in compartments, coloured floral endpapers. (Joints split, extremities rubbed). Provenance: Lord Eliock (armorial bookplate); copious later annotation on endpapers relating to the Veitch and Hamilton families.
With another bible in 2 vols. in an unusual red morocco binding.
