Georges Jacob, maître in 1765.

These fauteuils with their volute-scroll legs, are attributable to Georges Jacob, the most celebrated and one of the most prolific menuisiers whose workshop flourished in the second half of the 18th century. This distinctive leg was employed on a number of versions of similar models, two of which are illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Les Ebénistes Français du XVIIIe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 412.
