The name Denham is not recorded in the chronometer files of the Royal Greenwich Observatory. However, inside the bezel is scratched the name 'Pyott' which may refer to James Pyott, 49 Spencer Street, Clerkenwell, a well known late 19th Century chronometer maker to many nautical opticians.
