A Victorian large oak quarter-striking table clock, circa 1880
The Gothic revival case with outset cluster columns and tracery panels, arched sound frets, with tracery sight ring to the silvered Roman dial engraved with foliate scroll spandrels, signed GILLETT, BLAND & CO./STEAM CLOCK FACTORY/CROYDON, with rosette engraving around the winding holes and dial centre, blued steel trefoil hands, with strike/silent ring to the arch above, the substantial eight day triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, hour striking on gong and quarter-chiming on eight bells, with pendulum holdfast to back plate numbered 8687 (lacking retaining screw) -- 30¼in. (77cm.) high
