Cary, 86 St James's Street, Jany.1.1842 made up of two sets of twelve hand-coloured engraved split gores, with graduated equatorial, ecliptic and equinoctial colure, the oceans with an analemma, trade winds, numerous explorers' tracks with dates and notes and further notes on rocks, volcanoes and similar, the continents with nation states delicately and variously shaded and finely detailed, north America showing the territories of numerous indigenous tribes, Alaska shown as Russian, California labelled Unexplored Countries and NEW ALBION along the coast, Africa with traders' routes, oases, wells and some detail on native tribes; the celestial CARY'S NEW CELESTIAL GLOBE …Made & Sold by J.&W. Cary, Strand, London Jan.1.1816 made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores laid to the ecliptic poles, the axis through the celestial poles, with graduated equatorial, four colures and ecliptic with twilight zone, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures and scientific instruments, the stars shown to seven orders of magnitude with nebulae and variously labelled according to the catalogue of their source; both spheres with engraved brass hour dial, stamped meridian circle and hand-coloured engraved paper horizon ring with wind directions and degree (x2), with four baluster turned legs united by cross stretchers
