FIRST EDITION of this guide, which includes in its "Addenda" a section relating to the then recent developments in gold and silver mining in Idaho. Extracts from contemporary newspaper accounts are included in the text. "In advising emigrants entering the Pacific Northwest, Captain Mullan furnishes a day-by-day itinerary of the route from Fort Benton, on the Missouri River, through the mountains to Walla Walla in Washington Territory.
