TWO VENICE WET-DRUG JARS
CIRCA 1560-80, WORKSHOP OF MAESTRO DOMENICO DA VENEZIA
Of baluster form with cylindrical spouts and flat strap handles, each reserved below the spout and handle with a medallion, the first with a gentleman wearing a ruff and tall hat below the spout, the reverse with a portrait of a lady, the second with a helmeted soldier below the spout, the reverse with a half length portrait of a religious figure, reserved against blue grounds with sgraffito white scrolls and scrolling flowering foliage, between blue line and yellow band borders (the first with restored section to spout, restored upper rim chip, two areas of restoration to body and footrim, the second with vertical crack to upper rim and three further cracks to body, chip to side of handle and front section of foot restored)
