2 volumes, 4° (262 x 203mm). With half-titles; printed label pasted on the verso of the first half-title recording price and distribution information. Engraved folding map and 23 lithographed and engraved plates, of which 3 folding. (Occasional light spotting.) Contemporary polished tan calf by Ph. Selenka with his ticket, with contrasting edges and spine compartments, sides diced and with border in blind, sprinkled edges (small scuffs).
FIRST EDITION. A VERY GOOD COPY IN A FINE BINDING BY SELENKA. Cousinéry had travelled widely in the Levant on various consular assignments. This account of his voyage in Macedonia and Thrace focuses especially on Salonica, Edessa, Serres, Cavalla and Thasos, and some of the antiquities he collected on earlier voyages are also discussed.
