拍品專文

The striking 'Grecian' lines of this press correspond to the oeuvres of the leading fashionable cabinet makers of the early 19th century. Perhaps one of the strongest comparisons can be drawn with the work of George Oakley and parallels can be drawn with the superb wardrobe supplied to Charles Madryll Cheere, Papworth Hall, Cambridge circa 1810 (Simon Sainsbury, The Creation of an English Arcadia, Christie's London, 18 June 2008, lot 273.
A press of identical design was sold Christie's London, 24 April 2008, lot 21 (£10,000).
