WHITMAN, WALT (1819-1892). Cabinet photograph inscribed and signed ("Walt Whitman), by G.F.E. Pearsall, Fulton St. (Printed by C.F. Spieler, Phila.) (imprint on mount), n.d. [circa 1872]. 188 x 110 mm. (7 3/8 x 4 5/16 in.) including mount. A well-known portrait of Whitman, in a white Stetson hat with one arm resting on a table, boldly signed and inscribed on the lower portion of the image:"Walt Whitman born May 31 1819." Imprint on mount reads: "Photo'd from life, Sepr., 72..."
