A BLUE-GLAZED CONG-SHAPED VASE
TONGZHI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1862-1874)
The vase is potted with a rectangular body of archaistic form with characteristic circular foot ring and mouth rim, applied with a pair of moulded elephant-heads with a mock ring-handle. They are covered in a lustrous, dark violet-blue glaze.
