Second edition in Dutch, a reprint of Warachtige historie ende beschriuinge eens lants in America (Antwerp, 1558) and issued as vol. 4 in Pieter van der Aa’s Naaukeurige Histoira und Beschreibung. “The first Dutch translation, printed by Plantin in 1558, is very rare” (Borba de Moraes). The original German edition was published under the title Warhafftig Historia vnnd Beschreibun at Marburg in 1557, and a second Marburg edition was published in the same year (under the title Warhaftige beschreibung...). Third and fourth editions were published in Frankfurt (undated, but also believed to have been printed in 1557). “These are the first editions of the famous Hans Staden book.
