FROM THE COLLECTION OF MR. YUNG PINGThe recipient of this painting is Yung Ping (1907-1998), a well-known journalist and government official, who served as Deputy Head of the Central News Agency. He was an enthusiastic collector of modern Chinese paintings and calligraphy. In Hong Kong, he became acquainted with many artists from Hong Kong and Taiwan at the time, including Zhao Shao’ang, Pu Ru, Yu Youren, and Guan Shanyue, who dedicated their works to him. A selection of works from the same collection is available in our inaugural online sale, Exquisite Eye: Fine Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy.
