FOUR HARDSTONE AXES
NEOLITHIC PERIOD, SOUTHEAST CHINA, 4TH-3RD MILLENNIUM BC
Each axe flares slightly towards the cutting edge and has a single hafting hole. Three of the axes are carved from stone of mottled pale grey tone, and the fourth from stone of even ivory-white color.
The largest, 6 ½ in. (16.5 cm.) high, cloth box
