A PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE PINK-GROUND 'MEDALLION' BOWLS
DAOGUANG SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD
Painted to the exterior with four circular panels enclosing different groups of flowers and flowering trees, reserved on a pink sgraffiato ground painted with formal multi-couloured lotus sprays, the interior painted in underglaze-blue with a circular panel of a white heare beneath a flowering tree, encircled around the rim by four detachable floral sprays

A pair of bowls of this design in the Hong Kong Museum of Art was included in their exhibition The Wonders of the Potter's Palette, 1984, Catalogue, no. 103; another is illustrated in the Ohlmer Collection Catalogue, nos. 144 and 145; and another in the Roemer Museum Hildesheim by Lee, Selected Far Eastern Art in the Yale University Art Gallery, no. 389; an example in the Musee Guimet by Lion-Goldschmidt, Les Poteries et Porcelaines Chinoises, pl XXVII (D); and one in the National Gallery of Victoria was included in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Exhibition of late Chinese Imperial Porcelain, 1980, Catalogue, no. 16
