The drawing was commissioned by Cassiano dal Pozzo for his Museo Cartaceo and was engraved for it by G.B. Ferrari. Other references to the same fruit are in a painting by Bartolomeo Bimbi in the Museo Botanico of the University of Florence (C. 612).
