Fruit gathering in the mountains

Originally from Seurre, Burgundy, Gadan left his native town in 1881 for Algeria. He was accompanied by his father and brother, and later joined by Louis Carbonnel, another artist from Seurre. It was in Algeria that the artist produced almost all of his work. As can be seen in this painting, Gadan painted picturesque scenes and local characters.
