Christoffel Pierson studied with Bartholomaus Meyburgh, with whom he travelled to Germany in 1653, before he established himself in Gouda in 1654. Apart from a period of activity in Schiedam, he remained in Gouda for the rest of his career. In 1695, Pierson, who was known as a glass-painter as well as a painter of portraits and still lifes, restored the famous windows of the church of Gouda.
