Lot Essay

Eisman Semenowsky was originally of Polish descent but spent most of his working life in Paris. Along with many other European artists of the time, Semenowsky developed a fascination with the lavishness of the Orient and painted many beautiful women clad in the sumptuous colours associated with eastern culture.
