Lot Essay

Please compare to a painting with a similar composition painted in 1850 (see: Norbert Hostyn, P. and V. Berko, Eugène Verboeckhoven, Brussels, 1981, p. 127). Verboeckhoven made several versions of the same composition in different sizes and with small variations in different periods of his lifetime.
