Lot Essay

According to the Olana Curatorial Department, the present work likely depicts from left to right: Kaaterskill High Peak, Kaaterskill Round Top, Kaaterskill Clove and South Mountain, which are situated in the eastern Catskill Mountains of New York. A small oil sketch of a similar scene is in the collection of the Smithsonian, Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, New York.
