Henry of Navarre was a chestnut colt, foaled in 1891 by Knight of Ellerslie out of Moss Rose. As a three-year-old he was the American champion and at the beginning of his stud career was the premier stallion at the Nursery Stud, Babylon, New York.
Monitor was foaled in 1876 by Lexington out of Minx. His wins included the Jerome Handicap and the Dixie Handicap. He was second to Spendthrift in the Belmont Stakes and second in the Saratoga Cup.
Domino was a brown colt, foaled in 1891 by the Darley Arabian sire line Himyar out of Mannie Gray. Unbeatable at a mile or less, he could not stand the distance. As a stallion, however, he sired three major stakes winners, Commando, Cap and Bells.
