Lot Essay

We are grateful to Mr. Fred Meijer of the RKD, The Hague, for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs (verbal communication, 28 March 2011). However, he points out that the two brothers, Herman and Cornelis, worked closely together in the mid 1630s and Cornelis could also have taken part in painting this lot.
