Lot Essay

We are grateful to Dr. Christina Pucher for confirming the attribution on the basis of images. This was clearly a popular composition, since the artist repeated it in both horizontal and vertical formats, with slight changes in detail, for example, Sotheby's, London, 4 December 1997, lot 235.
