Charles James Fox was an outspoken member of the Whig party and prominent member of the House of Commons whose opinions, including his staunch support of the American Revolution, were some of the most radical in the Parliament of his time. The present picture relates to a full-length portrait of Fox painted by John Opie in 1804 and now at Holkham Hall, on the north coast of the English county of Norfolk.
