« Comme dans la corrida, je crois, on ne peint pas avec des idées. La peinture se fait en dehors des idées, en contradiction avec les idées, voire en générant des idées. C'est pourquoi des formes d'art aussi silencieuses engendrent tant de mots. C'est en cela que la peinture et la tauromachie se ressemblent, dans la verbosité qui les accompagne, comme si leur propre silence était si insupportable qu'il fallait des pasodobles et des pages infinies.
