Xia Hui, a native of Jiangsu province, was a painter of Kun Shan style during the Jiaqing and Daoguang era. The Kun Shan style started as early as 14th century, and came to be well-known when Xia Chang (1388-1470) built up the style with his bamboo paintings. Xia Hui succeeded the Xia Zhu School (Xia Bamboo) in his period and was acclaimed in the area of Jiangsu.
